Before I opened my own practice, I worked for 10 years in medical anxiety and pain therapy. Here I worked mainly in dental practices and in the delivery room.

Prior to that, I worked for 5 years with people who had lost a body part due to an amputation. So dealing with people who have anxiety has been a specialization of my work for over 15 years.

The first hypnosis for anxiety I experienced was for my self. I had a spider phobia that caused many embarrassing moments, panic and avoidance in my everyday life. Then in my first hypnosis training in 2017, we tackled this problem.

There is a photo of me with a tarantula crawling across my face and I am smiling. I don’t show that photo here because the very idea might be too triggering for some readers. But we achieved this result after only one hour of hypnosis.

What kind of anxiety disorder do I have? What therapies do I need?

Anxiety is primarily an innate warning mechanism. Treatment becomes necessary when the feelings of anxiety are disproportionate to the triggering stimulus, do not subside, or arise without apparent danger. If it leads to problems in everyday life or to high suffering, therapy is necessary.

What are Specific Phobias?

With a specific phobia, one fears a particular object or situation. Objects can be, for example, animals, sharp objects (Aiktiophobia) or water (Hydrophobia). Fear-triggering situations can be, for example, air travel (Aviophobia) or confinement (Claustrophobia).

Except for agoraphobia (fear of public places and crowds) and social phobia (fear of acting strange, embarrassing, or even ridiculous), it can be assumed that specific phobias can be resolved in one session with hypnosis.

Hypnotherapy for Panic Disorders

A panic attack is a sudden onset of fear with physical symptoms. Rapid heartbeat, sweating, gastrointestinal complaints, and dizziness are common.

From 4 panic attacks per month, it is considered a panic disorder. Even before that, panic is in need of treatment, as panic disorders can often develop into agoraphobia.

Hypnosis is an effective means of treating panic. Typically, 3 sessions are required.

Hypnotherapy for Generalized Anxiety Disorder

With Generalized Anxiety Disorder, we speak of persistent and free-floating anxiety. This means that those affected are almost constantly afraid. The feeling cannot be controlled, and one lives in constant worry and suffers from low self-esteem.

These disorders are also felt in the body with symptoms such as palpitations, muscle tension, tension in the chest, etc.

The cause is often growing up with anxious parents.

Combining with other forms of psychotherapy is recommended. The treatment must be designed over a longer period of 4-5 sessions.
